DITALS course in Rome

Ditals preparation exam in Rome: requirements

Would you like to teach Italian as a second foreign language? DITALS preparation course in Rome is the answer to your questions.

What is a DITALS certification?

Ditals is a certification for teaching Italian for foreigners, supervised by the University for Foreigners of Siena.
Our DITALS preparation courses in Rome are what you need if you are trying to be a teacher of Italian as a Second Language and Italian as a Foreign Language (L2 / LS).
As you know, a  certification is by its nature a necessary tool to certify something that already exists and that you don’t need to create it specifically just to pass an exam. You can get ready for an exam just spending time studying BUT in order to be a quality teacher you also need:

  • disciplinary competences
  • pedagogical knowledge
  • methodological capacity

Is it better a certification or a master?

The answer is not so simple. Actually, this question leads to another one: is it more important your study qualification or your experience?
It may be that in Italy, a master’s degree could be useful to improve your position in the graduations when you are about to get a job in teaching Italian language.
But in other countries (especially Anglophone countries) the reality is a little different: when they receive your CV , they will not only evaluate your study degree but they will mainly focus on your experience.
If you consider that a certification requires less study and preparation time,  that it is generally much cheaper and that certifies your experience, methodological ability … this means that it certifies that you are a quality teacher.
