And now you’ve just arrived in Rome … You were preparing for your journey, packing, planning, chatting, and imagining, and then, all of a sudden, you’re here! I’m sure, you definitely need a crash course on “how to survive in Rome”.
At the beginning, everything was brand new to me, too. Once here, I stepped out of the airport and I found a taxi driver who was not able to speak English, panic! Anyhow, no problem at all! in thirty minutes I got to the apartment which was to become my new home in Rome!
I chose to spend my “vacanze romane” in a nice, cushy and cozy apartment suggested by Clidante, the Italian language school in Rome, the perfect place for me to learn Italian language and culture. My apartment is just great, from the furniture to the location, a stone’ s throw from Clidante, in Piazza Bologna. So… I can sleep until the very last minute before the beginning of the lessons! Moreover I quickly found a friend: Greta, my flatmate! She’s a lovely girl, a student in architecture, with whom to practice the language. We often go out together and she introduced me to a lot of her friends. All in all, everything makes my apartment feel like home and a great place to unwind at the end of the day; and now, I can say, Rome is definitely “My Favorite City”.
Clidante school is very well organized: my class is made up of a group of ten students of the most different nationalities; we will all be taking Italian lessons for the four weeks of our holidays. Incredibly, in a short time we’re learning the right language tools to deal with everyday situations like ordering a meal or asking for directions or going shopping and meeting people, and specially how not to act like an obnoxious tourist! They also organize a range of cultural and fun activities.
If only I had known it would be so fantastic! Life is beautiful.
