Closet for spring in Rome?
Packing for spring in Rome is really hard! Most people overpack, and think that they need everything and more, when in reality, you should opt to minimize your lifestyle in this season! You don’t need every single piece of clothing ever created, and it’s better to go shopping once in Rome. Shopping before departing, believe me, usually leads to over-shopping, and bringing things you don’t actually need!
A language course abroad is always a new exciting start and you should definitely organize your closet. In order to do so… ask yourself these questions:
1. Does it fit?
2. Is it wearable or in good condition?
3. Do you even actually wear it?
4. Is it in style? Careful you’re going to Italy….
5. Can it be worn with more than one outfit?
First: forget about the clothes that don’t answer these questions. Then, think about what you need and research what stores have what you’re looking for. My goal during this season in Rome is to keep my clothes monochromatic, so I won’t waste so much time trying to piece together outfits. Instead, everything will match and look good in all situations. When you’re packing, think of how a certain article of clothing can be used in more than one way.
Don’t forget to take into account all the different occasions you’ll find yourself in! For sure think about a nice “aperitivo” in the city centre with your new friends, or a late evening glass of wine in Monti, or even a special daytrip to Villa D’Este, museums, gym, language classes and so on.
Oh… also, you need to plan for the weather (rain, sun, rain sun, rain, sun – we’ve got everything during spring in Rome!)
And of course, think also about something to wear for, at least, one picture for our BLOG
