Soccer In Italy
Soccer is a sport that has taken hold in Italy in the early 20th century when some fans took inspiration from football in England. Today we can definitely say that football has become an essential element of our local culture, followed by millions of people with a special and unique passion.
This sport is practiced by many people, from the smallest to the biggest ones. It’s a discipline that manages to pull off what is the real team spirit, based on respect and loyalty of the players.
In Italy, soccer is the national sport, the sport that can arouse strong emotions and to move large numbers of people.
Moreover who, as a child, has never be excited playing with the ball? That is why todays young people, and not only that, love it. They love it because it makes them feel young and children again, able to conquer the world – and their supporters on the stands – only kicking a ball, trying not to have it take from their opponents, trying to score on goal.
In his early years, football was mainly practiced for personal pleasure, in fact the winning teams received in exchange for their athletic performance, only medals of merit or small baskets of groceries.
Nowadays soccer has become a real job to which all young people aspire, it has very high incomes. In addition to the players, soccer in Italy (and not only in Italy), has become a real business far-reaching. Think of the pay-per- view broadcasts, think of owned stadiums with adjoining cubic meters of buildings designed to produce income (shops, apartments etc.) and of merchandising. In short, soccer in Italy in addition to doing culture, produces an economic power hard to give up.
This has perhaps changed a little soccer, making it more spectacular and attractive, but stripping it of all those values of passion that have always accompanied it. We have to get over it!
