History of Art: The History of Art course covers major periods and movements, from Byzantine Art to Neoclassicism. Topics include the High Renaissance (Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael), Venetian Art from Bellini to Canaletto, 15th-century Florence, and Rome from Ancient Times to the 18th Century.
Italian Literature: Our Italian Literature program introduces students to key authors and texts, with guided reading materials. Topics include Dante’s Inferno, the birth of Italian poetry, Petrarch’s Canzoniere, Manzoni’s I Promessi Sposi, Romantic poetry (Foscolo and Leopardi), the 20th-century novel, and Sicilian writers of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Italian History: The History course explores Italy’s modern development, from national unification to Fascism, and from World War II to contemporary Italy.

Italian culture courses for foreigners in Rome take place in the early afternoon and aim to introduce students to Italy’s cultural, political, and social reality. Subjects offered each month include art, history, and literature, but you can also request individual lessons in the history of Italian politics and society, cinema, theater, and opera.
